Meet Erin...
Hello, I am the sole artisan & owner (and everything else!) at Moonstone Mementos! I'm a native Floridian with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. I find much of the inspiration for my art in the natural beauty around us - the beach, gemstones, & plants, just to name a few. Throughout my career as an artist, I've always LOVED working with clients, in many mediums, to bring their dreams to fruition, and I can't wait to work with you!
I became interested in keepsake jewelry through this wild adventure we call "motherhood"! As a mother of 3, with almost 100 months of breastfeeding under my belt, I wanted a token to commemorate that wonderful and difficult journey. Once my youngest had weaned, I searched online, but never found anyone offering breast milk jewelry that was quite as unique and customized as I had envisioned. So, I started researching and experimenting with some of the (over 4 years old!) frozen bags of milk I'd saved in the freezer, until I had developed a time tested and professional preservation process that I was happy with. As an artist, I already had many years of experience working with various materials, including resin, which is the main material used in the keepsake jewelry making process, so it was really a perfect fit! In 2019, I began making keepsake pieces for friends and family, as well as adding many other important & symbolic keepsake materials to my repertoire, and Moonstone Mementos was born!
I chose to use the name, "Moonstone Mementos" for a few reasons. For one, I thought that a finished breast milk "gem" was reminiscent on an opaque, shimmery moonstone, which is one of the most gorgeous stones. Another reason was that I just love the symbolism of moonstone! It is a stone for new beginnings, inner growth, and strength. Like the moon itself, the stone represents the divine feminine, and reminds us that our lives ebb & flow. It also stabilizes emotions, while promoting serene & tranquil energy.
